OK by popular demand here are some more pictures of my expedition in the Pamirs, starting from Kyrgyzstan and ending in Gorno Badakhshan (Tajikistan) on the Afghan border. We hung out and drank vodka with the former Soviet Army on one side of the mountains, crossed the Pamirs, and ran into a group of mujahadeen rebels on the other side, and had lunch and drank tea with them. We also met a goat herding grandmother who offered me her three granddaughters as wives...provided I couldnt chose, I had to take all three of them. I accepted their yoghurt and tea but politely declined the marriage offer.The mountains are a good place to get along with everybody.
