OK guys, I normally dont put my drama on FB, but I really just need some words of encouragement and reassurance that Im doing the right thing here. First I should tell you that my neighbor has 3 kids who often are over at my house playing with my kids, and they ride bikes together, etc. Heres the situation: Some months ago her house was broken into. Because some of her items were strewn about next to our privacy fence (on her side not ours-that is along a public street), and was told by someone that they saw the person go over our fence and into our yard, she is completely 100% convinced that my husband an I are the ones who did it. I was actually unaware she felt that way until just yesterday, when I had to address a racial slur that her son said to my son. It was upon going there to talk to her about this that she became hostel and told me not to be on her property and not to allow my children to play with hers-but that she would address this with her son. Today her son was following my kids on his bike and yelling thief! thief! Yall are nothing but a bunch of thieves! then proceeded to give my kids the middle finger. I told my children that if they think they are being followed or receiving verbal harassment to go in another direction and/or try to just ignore it-as they are on a public street and it is a free country and that he could say what ever he wants-BUT if he threatens them or does anything physical to them to come and get me immediately. I calmly went over to talk to her about her sons behavior and she again was even more hostel and threatened me with bodily harm for being on her property. I left and called the police to ask them advice. The said I could file a threat complaint if I wanted to, in case things got worse (physical) between her kids and my kids, something would already be on the records. So I did. Am I over-reacting over this?
