OK guys, I want to give you all a heads up on what has been - TopicsExpress

OK guys, I want to give you all a heads up on what has been discussed up until this point. There will most likely be a ban on pre-fishing for 2 weeks prior to the event. This means that on-your-honour your last day of fishing Shawnigan Lake will be March 30. We want to attract non-Islanders to come to the event so we dont want them feeling at a big dis-advantage to the locals that can fish the lake any day they wish. Every boat will be considered a weigh-boat. This means that if someone comes up to you and needs to have a fish weighed you will give your fellow competitor the attention he/she needs to have their fish weighed and sign a document stating that you witnessed the fish. At the end of the day the competitor will turn in 5 SIGNED SHEETS ONLY to the officials to be tallied up and entered as his/her 5 fish total weight. It will not be up to the officials to go through all of your sheets to find the heaviest ones. That will be up to you. The officials dont need any more than they already have to deal with. If someone is on fish and feels they might jeopardize their own success in the event by stopping fishing to weigh another fish they will have the right to delay the weighing of the fish for 15 minutes, and the competitor with the fish will have the power to decide to move on to another competitor for weighing of the fish or waiting the 15 minutes. Common courtesy must be practiced here. Give your fellow competitor time and space to fish. After all, the fact that he is weighing your fish is allowing this event to happen. Competitors must have at least a bucket or cooler that they can keep a fish alive and well in for at least 15 minutes, so be prepared to do so. Seriously hurt or suffering fish will be considered dead and will cause you to be penalized. The weighing rules are to make sure we are not discriminating against people without livewells and to attract a bigger turnout. THESE ARE ONLY IDEAS WE ARE WORKING ON. WE NEED YOUR INPUT AS TO HOW YOU LIKE/DISLIKE THEM! Also, please suggest any other ideas you have to make the event a success by PM. Thank you!
