OK, here goes. Not much to go on with this one, yet is all I know. I am trying to find any info on my maternal grandfather My maternal grandfather is shown here in this 1928 record of registered refugees from Pontos (Black Sea region of Turkey). He is shown here as the first entry Empeiriadis Basilios, son of Nikolaos, from Turkish Village Ovatsik (now Ovacik in Turkey). After arriving in Greece, he was eventually settled in Koufiksilia, Nestimion village (Kozani prefecture?) He was married to wife Sofia upon their arrival to Greece around 1923. Both died in the years between 1930-1933 sometime, am unsure of this, but going from what my mother has told me, she was orphaned when she was around the 6yo mark. My mother Katina was born in May of 1926 in the village of Nestimion.She recalls having a younger brother who also died during her time with her parents in Nestimion. most likely from typhus disease. She also recalls her uncle, Kyriakos, he is also shown on this doc as the 4th entry. My mother ended up on her own,and after moving from house to house for a few years, and by chance, was given to her childless adoptive parents in the Greek village (Levkadi - Kozani prefecture) she know calls home. She married in this village in 1949 and migrated with her husband and 2yo child to Australia in 1954. My mother is now 88yo and has no further knowledge or information of any biological family ties remaining in Greece. I am sure that there would be, yet were do I start to look... I cant even find Nestimion village anywhere online.... Cheers..
