OK might be the last time Im on here before 2015, so while I know 2014 has been a horrible year for many of my friends and family, I would like to indulge myself and look at a couple of positives. Elaine Stubborn And Marco Santucci. What a year for you guys. An incredible amount of blood sweat and tears over the last few years, all culminating with the release of Northern Soul the film. An incredible feet on its own. but due to the love and respect many Northern Soul fans have for both of you, the internet was awash with a peoples movement that meant the film was shown in hundreds of cinemas it may not have been. Congrats to everyone involved in the film in every capacity. 2014 will be memorable for this Im sure. And secondly, another love of my younger days was live music. Id been hearing records by the Wonder Stuff on the Janice Long show and persuaded my brother Mark Gibbs to come along to their gig in Bristol. The support band were from Bath and they blew us away. Mark was all over them getting info on their records gigs etc while I watched the Stuffies. Soon after they split and reformed with a new and IMO better line up. We then went to just about every gig of theirs possible. Meeting along the way some amazing people that would become lifetime friends. Eat reformed this year, 20 years after releasing their first LP - Sell me A God. They played two incredible nights at the Half Moon in Putney, a cornerstone of live music in the capital. Some of our friends even made it over from California. Karen Hack got to see the band Id spent hours telling her stories about. And they sounded as great this year as they did on that night in 1994. Money cant buy memories like that. So thanks to all the guys in Eat, and all our Eat Freak mates who made the trip from all over. It really was a highlight of all highlights seeing you guys again. Im heading back down to Brighton tomorrow to meet up with Karen and her family...our family. Heading into 2015, I have the love of my life at my side, and hopes of more incredible memories ahead. 2014...incredible. Best wishes to everyone in 2015. If 2014 was a bad one, hopefully 2015 will be doubly good for you guys.
