OK parents (of teenage girls) here is a challenge (and a slight rant). Lets include in our many teachings to our children how to be upstanding, honorable, look out for others, non-drama causing, respectable young ladies. Girls have far too much to worry about these days then to try and figure out why they have become the subject of other girls need for drama. I myself have never understood or tolerated drama or mean-girl mentality. And taught and counseled my daughter to avoid it. Is there a reason for it? What is the reason for somebody to create rumors and say mean nasty things about another person? Do girls have nothing better to do then be-little and inflict pain on other people? Why is this a relevant action for girls? Are they so insecure, scared, intimidated, and immature that instead of ignoring somebody they dont like, or better yet take the time to get to know and appreciate a person for whom they are that they would rather make up lies and spread them like wild fire. And to those who dont start the rumors but feed on the gossip. Shame on you too. If you hear something girls about somebody dont feed the fire, put it out. Go to the person who is the subject of the rumor and talk to them, get their story and help squash the rumor mill. Because even if you didnt start the drama you are contributing to it by spreading it along. Lets grow up girls, focus on your schooling and who you are becoming as a person. There are enough bad things and bad people in the world do you really want to be one of them? (I specify teenage girls in this rant, but some boys can be just as bad)
