OK....quick status update....I will reluctantly join the Ebola hysteria. Ill try to be brief. Ebola is in America, no one could have prevented it. No one is trying to kill us with it. Otherwise ... I dunno ... Id send 1000 martyrs with it, not one. The political football is a tragedy in the lives of those effected. Travel restrictions seems silly, but whatever helps the Chicken Littles sleep at night. We do need to keep hospitals and clinics informed, trained and equipped to handle diseases such as Ebola. The most unnerving part of this whole story, to me anyway, was the unpreparedness of our hospitals, even with the large outbreak in W. Africa. Lets take a breath, take a look around, maybe wash your hands. Now, the important stuff, what is the left hand doing while we all watch the right. Using this personal tragedy and instilling more fear into Americans, when did we all become such sissies. When did we decide to tuck tail and hide from our neighbors, protect ourselves with arsenals against roving street gangs (they havent reached my house yet, yours?), thought ourselves better than our black, brown, gay, Muslim/Jewish/Atheist brothers and sisters? Is it really a big deal to press 1 for English? Seriously, of all the things to get incensed over. Lets get incensed over the government, how many billions will be spent to negate your vote? Oh, you arent going to vote? Then you dont get the luxury of being upset. You dont get to complain about the evils of Obamacare, or the cost of bus fare for that matter. Do Wall St investors deserve a bigger slice of your corporation than you do? If you feel that the status quo is working for you, fantastic. If not, consider a new candidate for the office. Perhaps a reluctant candidate. People that have made politics a career and have become millionaires doing civil service jobs are the cancer in this society. Want to fear something? Giving the current batch of politicians another term to further the corporate agenda is a frightening prospect. Ebola has nothing on these buffoons.
