OK race fans... Our hearts are heavy . The mountain claimed one of our riders in a freak accident at the checkered flag yesterday. Prayers to Bobbys family and may you RIP my friend. On a good note The LaNoue Racing Team came and conquered. Our goal was to get both of Marc LaNoue race bikes to the checkered and we did. Mark Shim brought the #9 home in first place and I brought the 114 across the finish line in third giving a podium finish for both bikes in the vintage division where Marc remains the current record holder. On a personal note.... I want to give thanks to my Crew Chief Russell Medack and Anthony Littlefield who absolutely worked their butts off all week long getting the 114 ready for this race. Without their efforts this racer wouldve been a spectator instead of a competitor. The Yamaha was plaqued with mechanical issues that seems to be traditional with this machine at this mountain but they kept this machine in the show and I am very grateful for that. While 3rd place is a good finish, its not the second place I was shooting for. Internal gear problems killed valuable seconds that only who knows what could have been if this problem didnt occur. Lloyd Hale rode a spectacular race to finish second in the his last year for this event. For me as a competitor....well I can either be happy with the finish I had or bring the114 back next year with a fixed gear box and see if I have a better than third place finish in me. Hmmm....we may never know. With this I close the book on my 92nd running of the Pikes Peak Race to The Clouds. Thank you for following and supporting
