OK runners, I need help.. Last week, I started running on a treadmill. I did a 3 minute warm-up as usual at 3.5 mph walking. Then, I upped the speed to 4.8 MPH which I was going to do for 10 minutes before increasing speed. About 4 minutes in on the run, I had a sudden sharp pain in the back of my left knee. I got off the treadmill and tried rolling the leg in case it was a cramp. The pain, which was more a tightness than pain, did not dissipate for 3 days. I laid off running for a full 5 days to make sure nothing was actually hurt. I was feeling no pain in the leg. Tonight, after the warm up, I got in 3 minutes at 4.8 before it locked up again. I went ahead and walked for 40 minutes, but did not run any more. My walk was only mildly uncomfortable. Now, it feels like a cramp, and the pain is in the hamstring. I can isolate the exact sopt of the pain. Is this the kind of thing I have to see a doctor about? Is there a stretch or something I can do to help avoid the problem? Any advice would be awesome.
