OK, seems like its time for a refresher course in holiday season - TopicsExpress

OK, seems like its time for a refresher course in holiday season etiquette. This lesson will cover the appropriate way to greet family, friends, or even complete strangers this time of year. Lets start with a few examples, shall we? If I know for a fact that you celebrate Christmas, then when I see you Im going to wish you a Merry Christmas. If I know that you celebrate The Festival of Lights, Im going to wish you a Happy Hanukkah. Ive had roommates who were of the Muslim faith, and they were among the most educated, respectful and courteous gentlemen to whom Ive ever had the pleasure of wishing a Peaceful Ramadan. However, If I dont know you, or even if I do know you but not very well, then Im likely to wish you Happy Holidays. Please save your misguided comments, posts or alleged thoughts about conflating that phrase with a War on Christmas or, worse yet, a War on Christians. Some of the most wonderful, compassionate, empathetic folks I know are non-believers, or have just stopped buying into what has become a largely secular Feast of Material Consumption, with a little religion sprinkled on top to make it all glittery and present-able. And I also know a handful of people who share a collective kind of moral superiority complex over the righteousness of their particular God as opposed to those other, lesser Gods out there. I am by no means a Biblical scholar, but I do know enough to know that Jesus would not approve of all the divisiveness some stupid humans choose to propagate. The concept love one another is a very basic place to begin. You should try it sometime. Happy Holidays yall.
