OK, since were a few days past 9/11, I thought I would post this, since its rather humorous, and jaw dropping at the same time... Last Wednesday, 9/10, Lisa and I decided to go get some lunch. We walk out into the garage, open the door, and immediately begin hearing an African accent and language, yelling!! We both say do you hear that? We back out of the garage, and suddenly see a tall Somali-looking man walking down the street with a MACHETE in his hand!!!!!!! WHAT THE CRAP???? We then notice that there are two burlap sacks in the yard. As I watch the guy round the corner of the block, Lisa checks out the sacks to see what he left (hoping its not full of heads, or as she said IEDs - LOL!). The sacks are full of Palmetto Berries! They grow on our Palm Trees. Now remember, its the day before 9/11, a Somalian man (cannot remember seeing any in our immediate area in the 12 years weve lived here) is walking down the street with a machete (most of the bad stories of Africa contain the word machete), yelling his language into a cell phone!!!!!! Being a little more comfortable that the sacks were full of berries (even though theyre in our yard), we drive around the corner to see where he was going (since he left his stuff). We see a home owner standing in the street, watching a truck pick up the guy on foot. I ask him what they were doing, and he explained that once a year, they go around picking these berries to make jelly to sell. Feeling better now... The truck drives by us, the guy in the back speaking to us in his language, us not understanding a bloody thing. He then yells MAKE JELLY! I laugh, give him a thumbs up, he gives me one back and we both smile.... Whew! :-P Now heres the funny part! The majority of you know me, and the toys I own that can Lay Down Some Hate... These guys were probably clueless to the awareness a lot of people practice on this week of the year. But, do you think its smart to be of a Muslim descent, yelling in your native tongue, holding a machete, in the yard of Big Rog????? LOL!!!!!! Glad that both me and Lisa are intelligent, logical people! :-D ....call me Captain Phillips! ツ
