OK so I turned the posting back on this morning, on Veterans Day. I wonder how my Dad, who helped to liberate a concentration camp in Nordhausen, Germany, would feel to know I was mocked in a badly Photoshopped image of me and my pal, fellow censor Adolph Hitler today? I sort of feel like this isnt a Boone County Neighborhood Group any more. Ive devoted much of the last year and 5 months, of my own time, to facilitating a place where people can talk about local issues, lost dogs, turtles, the best restaurants, projects for Girl Scout troops, a lost photo button at England-Idlewild park, senior skip day, chickens, highway work, and on and on. Instead, its become this place where attention-starved, immature people come to pick fights with each, who whine incessantly, who find pictures of erect penises worthy of posting -- in a yuckety yuck Beavis and Butthead kind of way. Who dont realize that the original group members, a lot of whom are my friends, bailed from this group long ago, and when they do come back, are the ones whove asked me to kick your butts out of this group. But I didnt. I actually stuck up for free speech. And then the group went crazy last Friday. The baiters and the trolls took advantage of the chaos. They loved the Facebook screaming. Meanwhile I got 40 messages per hour begging me to calm things down. I asked the jokester who posted the erect penis to take down his post. The atmosphere was too serious, too crazed, and yeah I personally didnt like it. He totally mis-read the mood. All he cared about was his Facebook following. He wanted to take a poll. And in a private message, I said not a XXXX poll. I dont regret using a commonly used cuss word in a private message. This member was not ejected from the room for his content. He was ejected for re-posting what I said -- in a private message -- all over at least one other Facebook group. Hence leading to Lord knows what kinds of Nancy is a censor and Nancy is a Fascist discussions. Goodness gracious, some people have too much time on their hands. So yeah, Im in a lousy mood. You would be too if you were Photoshopped with Hitler.
