OK... so on my quest to spend one year in silence I completed 4 weeks, I broke my silence at a Karaoke bar in New York, people were killing the tunes, and not in a good way, I had to get up and sing and when I tell you it was the most satisfaction, it made me realise how much I love to sing and make music it is what I was born to do and Im grateful that I am able to do that. Also Buddah says that you may break your silence to save someones life and I believe that those people in that Karaoke bar were slowly slaughtering the audience so it was my duty to bring some soul up in a de place I would like to thank the people that supported the vision and understood the objective, I am going to continue over the next 12 months to explore the concept of silence within my work. I would like to extend the invite out to anyone who would like to raise money for a good cause and become a part of the One year in Silence Project. Complete a minimum of 24 hours in silence and get your family and friends to sponsor you at virginmoneygiving/sponsored-silence If you know someone that talks to much you can nominate them on Facebook to take part in a 24 hour silence or even longer if you wish. Feel free to post any videos images or text on facebook/oneyearinsilence from within silence and share it with your friends on Facebook. I can say that remaining in silence is extremely challenging especially if you have to face the world but It is very rewarding to achieve something so bold and knowing that it is for great causes. The charities that were selected are all directly linked with the loss of a voice, Plan UK, because I am a girls fund and Street Kids are charities that work closely with young people across the world to give them opportunities and a chance to be heard and receive fair treatment where that may not have otherwise. Greenpeace is the voice that stands up to climate change, something that needs to be addressed on a global scale but is being ignored. Action on hearing loss is a charity that supports people with sensory loss. If we all take a moment to consider these different aspects of the world that we pay no mind to and often take for granted and act in a small way to help to change these things for the better we could achieve great things. Keep a look out for fundraising events that will be taking place over the next 11 months to raise money and awareness of the One Year in Silence project. Virgin Money is a non for profit organisation and all of the the money raised will be split directly between the chosen charities which you can find out more about on the fundraising page. Thank you
