OK sports fans... time to weigh in (sorry) on cheating in sports. The hardest thing, in my view, is to define cheating. There seems to be an awful lot of acceptance for something called getting an edge in sports that some could also refer to as cheating. Some examples I can think of would include a player claiming he caught a baseball or football when he knows he did not, a batter saying he was hit by a pitch when he clearly wasnt, flopping in hockey (see Montreal Canadians), getting your home crowd to cheer loudly so the opponents cant hear the QB signals, altering the home field to the advantage of the home team (infield grass, stadium dimensions etc.) and there are many more (feel free to add in comments) Does that mean that it is OK if the Patriots deflated the footballs ... No. If they did, it was wrong and incredibly stupid and as a Patriots fan, I am ashamed and unhappy. Hearing stories about Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning ,Brad Johnson etc. make it clear that QBs go to extremes to get the footballs they throw just to their liking... but rules are rules. OR are they??? I guess I am saying is that as sports fans, lets stop kidding ourselves that ANYTHING is going to make our athletic contests pure. It is sad but true. We should also remember, from time to time, that there are truly more important things in life. Oh, and Go Patriots!
