OK, theres been a lot of talk about immigration on my wall, so here is what it comes down to for me: In 2012 we imported $425.6 billion dollars worth of goods from China resulting in a $315 billion trade deficit. That is money gone from our economy and if I were going to be the most cynical I would say that much of that money will be used to bolster their already vast military complex, a force we or our allies may face one day. Every dollar also sent there was a job taken away from an American made product. Now, immigration does tax our already burdened system, but if we were to enact a clear, concise and effective path to citizenship, many of these people could be put on a track towards productive tax paying citizenship. And maybe, just maybe if we would quit buying so much Chinese crap, I suspect every single one of these workers would be needed to produce these goods. But I think sadly what it comes down to for many is that an influx of foreigners will change our culture and threaten existing power bases and I am afraid many just dont have the courage to come right out and say that.
