OKWALE PEACE/SECURITY COMMITTEE: WHERE IS THY SOUL? I wrongly assumed that the committee constituted to champion the cause of peace in Okwale will illuminate the truth; represent a beacon of hope for the hopeless, the vulnreable, the weak, the poor, etc; become the bastion of progressive idealism and passionately champion the cause of peace for our dear community, with the depth of intellectual resourcefulness that would normally be associated with the social standing of individuals entrusted with such sensitive and significant mandate. They have the opportunity to ink their names in gold, but seems to be heading into the scrap yard of infamy. It is no more hidden that some unjust and morally deficient members of the committee are busy attempting to conceal the submissions (truly or falsely) made by the two cult groups terrorising our community - per the remote cause or causes of the crisis in our hitherto peaceful community. I learnt from impeccable sources that the submission made by one of the groups is indicting a notorious gladiator, yet some bad eggs among the fold has perfected plan to sweep it under the carpet...this unhealthy development has not only divided the committee members, but has also made it unpopular and obsolete. Hence, Okwale now, more than before is in need of men with an adequate sense of history; who understands and appreciates the challenges of today and can take concret steps to guarantee a future that we can all look forward to - with pride and confident! As for me, I have a rebellious streak and can never be an unconditional supporter of a person or persons that is not doing the right thing...I finds it hard to follow the crowd when the crowd is going a wrong direction...I finds it impossible to suppress my conscience and deliver blindly subjective allegiance when oppression and injustice rear their ugly heads. May I say that regardless of whatever challenges facing our coomunity today, we must ensure that the good in our community prevails over the evil and the light overcomes the darkness. That is our hope and that is the challenge before every true Okwale indigene today - to scate the obstacles in our community and get things back into proper perspective within the limited time possible. So let us surmon a new spirit of Patriotism, Sacrifice, Service and Responsibility. Our community is founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty and communal unity. Those are values we all share and while our great community is going through this challenging time, let us with a measure of determination heal the divides that has held back our peace and progress. To me, individual peace depends on our collective peace. It is only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you will realize your true potential. It is said that faith is belief in things not seen, and miracles by their nature are inexplicable gifts from our God. But sometimes, if we look hard enough at the moments we triumph against the greatest odds, we can see his will at work in the people He loves. History cannot be re-written and nobody can fool history. This is the time for all of us, especially the elite (political class) to pay that utmost sacrifice of leadership - lay down their personal gain for the good of the people they wish to lead. Leadership is not in the office, the tittle, the authority, the mansion one occupies. But leadership is the sacrifice offered that others may thrive. Economic research has proven that there can be no development without peace. It is not an accident that Okwale came to being...nothing is an accident! This is not the time to sing Rock of Ages with a cleft in which we will hide ourselves. But this is precisely the moment to sing Stand up! Stand up! Let courage rise with danger and strength to strength oppose. I have no illusions about the difficulties of the task before us all, but whatever challenges that lie ahead, we will settle for nothing less than getting our people back to our community, in an atmosphere of tranquility. Im expecting that in a couple of weeks from now, we will unite as a people and begin the hardwork of fulfilling the Okwale promise and restoring our community to the Greatness anticipated by our ancestors who painstakenly built and bequeathed Okwaleland to us. In conclusion, let me urge every Okwale man to courageously voice tragic truth at all time. Lets illuminate one of the darkest chapters of our history!
