OLD-TIME HARD-TO-FIND RECIPES ON THE WAY! My lady friend is in the process of creating a serious old-style recipe book based on family members of yesteryear as well as old Texas recipes. She has been working on it for many, many months and expects to have it out by the end of this year or next year. It will feature recipes culled from the estates, archives, drawers, books, and scraps of paper left behind by relatives, friends, neighbors, and dusty folk of long ago ... as well as meticulous research on the Internet ... Favorites from the family ... Notable popular recipes from the past in Texas ... Local tidbits from Washington County ... Well-known dishes as well as obscure ones thought lost long ago ... And, most all these are comfort food types ... Main dishes ... Vegetable dishes ... Side dishes ... Desserts ... Appetizers ... etc. .... The majority of them will have been re-tested by the author, or have been used for years within her family, as well as my own family and friends of my family. This will NOT be your typical church or civic group spiral-bound fund-raiser recipe book. But --- also --- it will NOT be a slick, citified attempt at being down-home. It WILL be down-home and authentic from the ladies (and a couple of old geezers) who cooked the food the way it will be presented in the cookbook ... We will be offering it for sale at the antique & collectible shop Today and Yesterday in Brenham (Alamo/Park Streets) when ready. But mostly my lady friend is doing it to give to family members and friends as gifts. It will be a notable production and contain many, many desirable recipes --- some still around today and others lost to time and/or hard-to-find anymore. When it is done I will announce it here on the forum for those interested in obtaining copies. No price set yet, but reasonable.
