OMG! I have 34 years teaching, but not all in GA. So, I called TRS and found out my 8 years in VA dont count because I taught at a private school. So, if I choose to retire at the end of this school year, I have to take a 7% forever penalty, because I will be one year away from retirement age. So unfair!! Although, with all the sh*** we have to go through next year, it might be worth it. I can substitute a few days a month, and make up for the pay.
