OMG!!!! The bag saga just wont end! Its 9PM and I just got a phone call from USAirways (American) concerning my bag. (This call is TWENTY-FOUR HOURS after my bag arrived in Dulles Airport.) The female caller said, Your bag did arrive, but its been damaged. The caller then said they were going to put my bag inside another bag and deliver the (now) two bags to my hotel. When I asked her about filing a claim for my $600 Rimowa bag, she said, by supplying me with this replacement bag, the airline was considering the case settled. When I explained that I wasnt going to settle for anything less than an equivalent bag, she then asked how far away from the airport I was. I told her I was downtown DC, she then put me on hold. A minute later, she returned and said Heres what were going to do. Were going to send you your bag, but were going to open it and put a piece of paper inside so you can file a claim for the bag. When I said ok. She hung up! So my (now damaged and possibly and useable) bag is STILL at Dulles Airport seven hours after I was told the bag would be delivered this afternoon/evening. It will be at least an hour before it gets here to my hotel. I dont know what shape the bag is in, but it apparently is not usable any more. Now I have to buy a new bag, file a claim and hope that American reimburses me for the destruction of my original Rimowa bag. Now thats customer service!!!
