ON JALINGO YOUTHS FORUM PROTESTS OVER THE RELOCATION OF THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE TO GEMBU. Benedicta Zachariah I read the above caption with dismay every time. What have we benefitted from this entity called Nigeria; or Taraba? We are treated like foreigners in a country our parents were lured to join by the late Sardauna of Sokoto. The Mambilla Hydro Electric Power Project since time immemorial has been classified as a false promise, as it ends in the jaundiced Nigerian media and its propaganda. Our graduates are poorly represented in both Federal and State parastatals. Where are our job slots; who takes them? The same Jalingo youths went haywire when HE. Amb. Emmanuel Njiwah was explaining his sack as SSG over the media and they tagged him a Cameroonian. They went further to display their monopoly of arrogancy, by saying that the relocation of the College of Agric to Gembu is its movement to Cameroon. Please, are we Cameroonians? No, we can never be Cameroonians, just like we owe no loyalty to Cameroon. My point is this; as a former UN Trust Territory our parents had every opportunity to press a demand for our independent nation, but yet were lured to joining a country that treats us with impunity; yes, a country we have no future in. Ussa, and Takum are sharing boundry with Cameroon with a lot of Chambas and Kutebs from that axis, yet only people from Gembu are known in Taraba as Cameroonians. If things like this will not stop, I think time has come that we press forward our demands to the UN and AU for the actualisation of a Sovereign State of Amana. Dont you think so too By Benedicta Zachariah
