ON SELECTING A NEW CHARLOTTE MAYOR: The current situation facing Charlotte is unprecedented and justifies an immediate law change. This is not simply a replay of Patsy Kinseys recent ascension to the office for a just a few transitional months. Remember, the new mayor would serve all the way through December of 2015. The people of Charlotte voted just over 100 days ago and Edwin Bruton Peacock III was the voters second choice in a close election. With the current crisis demonstrating such a fundamental betrayal of public confidence, a special election is absolutely warranted and necessary to restore that public confidence. This is exactly the WRONG time for our elected representatives to make more backroom deals, select our new mayor for us, and then have an open city council vote for show. This is far too important. We need to get this right. LET THE PEOPLE SPEAK!
