ON THE ART WALL MAY 2014 Throughout the month of May we can enjoy the vibrant artwork of Benedicto Ixtamer Perez on the Art Wall. Benedicto is a self taught Mayan artist who lives on the shore of Lake Atitlan in the western highlands of Guatemala. He is a visual historian. His art reflects stories, customs, traditions and social situations of the Mayan culture, Tzutujil. He paints in different styles; primitive, birds eye view, ants eye view, abstract, cubism and impressionism. Benedicto donates a percentage of his sales to a scholarship fund in his community and for reforestation in the mountains surrounding his village, and any of these paintings can become yours. We hope you will enjoy his work! The Art Wall is available for display of paintings, photography, hand crafts, quilting, paper cuttings, or any two dimensional work which can be hung in the 5 x 10 foot space. If you or your group have work you would like to share with the congregation, please contact Judy Kasper to reserve the space. The next month available is July.
