ONE VISION PROJECT - BALANGIGA PARISH CHURCH & FISHERMEN Balangiga, Eastern Samar San Miguel, Balangiga, Eastern Samar From Brian Miller of One Vision Project: After having seen numerous LDS Temples and Iglesia Cristo churches in good condition and well under repair it was very disappointing to see a repeated seen that had been witnessed over and over again on this journey. Our Catholic house of worship was in extreme disrepair and almost appeared as if no work has been done to get things fixed some 4 months after the tragedy. This is of course, and outside observation and may not truly reflect what is happening on the ground. We had the chance to speak withe the parish priest of Balangiga Parish and share our concerns with the plight of local fisherman. Currently there are countless fisherman needing materials and supplies to build or repair their boats and regain their livelihood. While he was unable to assist us with connecting to Caritas since they apparently already had targeted priorities with their materials and boat builder he did direct us to the Mayors office to see if we could speak to him about opening up the lumber supply to Balangiga fisherman to restart their lives. We expressed to Father that in the Barangay of San Miguel that there are fisherman actively working on repairs and building boats with the supplies and materials that they can scrounge up among the destruction. After a quick few photos, off we went!
