OOPS! It appears I clicked the wrong button and found myself a member of the HVL Forum. My apologies, as it was not my intent. The only reason I opened a Facebook account was to be able to view and make comments on the HVL Connections page and occasionally see what comments are being made on the HVL Forum site. Personally, I dislike social media, but during these tumultuous times, I’m compelled to keep informed. As for the questions some have posed about how they got “banned or blocked” by HVL Connections, let me simply respond with the rules provided on the site: “Rules: We intend to maintain an environment of civility on this site. When there is debate, it will bring us closer to the truth if we do not let our passion for individual ideas override our humanity. Please be courteous and respectful in your communications. Any statements that include false representations, foul language, or demeaning behavior will be deleted. Anyone who repeatedly violates our rules after receiving warnings will be deleted from the membership.“ The best thing you can do is to ask yourself if you broke any of the aforementioned rules. I am not an Administrator for Connections, rightly so, because I know little about how to maneuver my way around Facebook. After all the unrest dies down, I will gladly remove myself from social media. Another few suggestion: Rather than asking one another questions about BOD or HVLA positions, etc. why not pose the question directly to the Directors of the Board, or the General Manager. If you have a complaint, why not file the complaint with the Association. If you were investigating which college to send your child to, would you ask HVL Forum, or go right to the sources, the colleges/universities? I’m sure you have heard the phrase, “too much information”. This is often what you see on the HVL Forum. Information is not necessarily truth, so seek the truth. It is indeed discouraging that our Community is torn by hatred and misinformation. Social media has provided a platform to allow that hatred and misinformation to spread with the same velocity and destruction as the actual wildfires so prevalent in our Region. Each byte of data flying through cyber-space about the HVLA and how that data is interpreted by staff, Board, and “the legal experts” seems to inspire higher levels of mistrust, disbelief and genuine animosity toward everyone in this Community. Are you willing to destroy this community to prove you are right? The people in the background who started this maelstrom and continue to stir it up are counting on your willingness to do just that. They continue to fan the flames of hatred and confusion in order to control what happens here. What’s in it for them? Power, money and control. Who are they? Look around and identify the leaders of your “viewpoint”… not the ones who speak the loudest, but the ones in the background who quietly direct “your side”. What’s in it for them? A new job? Controlling the BOD allows one side or the other to fire/hire the GM; approve/deny contracts; develop budgets and control spending for the organization. Be reminded of what can and cannot be done in accordance with California Government Code (Davis-Stirling) and our By-Laws, CC&R’s, and other governing documents…not in the minds of those who are passionately and emotionally tied to “being right” but in an objective way from those who judge and interpret the laws for all of us.
