OPEN MY EYES LORD II John 12:3-7 3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. 4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simons son, which should betray him, 5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. 7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. In those days,Almost every household in Israel had a pound of spikenard perfume in store waiting to be used to bury their beloved dead. And though they all had it,they were not ready to use it now but were waiting for him to die so that they will use it to embalm his dead body. Luke 23:55-57 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. 56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment. Finally he is dead and with the speed of lightening, the women went to prepare the spices and ointments for his dead body. But they had the shock of their lives when they discovered that his body is not even there. Luke 24 1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. Am wondering how they will feel and how their faces must have looked like when they discovered that his body was not there. Am sure the first thing they will drop or throw away will be the spices and the ointments they have hurriedly prepared. Bible said that they became much perplexed not just because the body of Jesus was missing but also, how they missed the opportunity to anoint him while he was alive. May you never miss your day of visitation and opportunities. So how did Mary know that she will never have the opportunity to do this when he dies so why not do it now? Today, I pray for you that your eyes be opened to see opportunities before they emerge. May you see tomorrow today.
