********************OPPORTUNITY******************* ***********TWO PLACES REMAINING******** Youth Theatre for Social Inclusion Youth in Action Training Course Bakuriani, Georgia, December 4-12, 2013 Project summary The training course “Youth Theatre for Learning and Inclusion“ is dedicated to youth inclusion and creative theatre and art techniques as a tool to youth empowerment. In the context of the current economic crisis in Europe which effects young people more than any other group, this training course aims to give its participants creative and innovative tools to increase the engagement of young people in youth and social projects and to help youth workers to support and encourage young people to take an active role in addressing social challenges in Europe. Hence, participation in this training will develop skills and competencies to aid young people in the development of their role as proactive young Europeans and to develop self-esteem, confidence and initiative. By working with youth workers and leaders, the training team will provide incentive to mentor and develop greater support for various forms of learning to participate. The entire training course is based on non-formal education, specifically creative theatre methods. Workshops, warm-up exercises, improvisation theatre, trainee-led sessions, public presentations, community action planning and feedback methods constitute the core educational tools to be applied within the programme. Project objectives To explore tools that focus on learning to learn and learning processes - To develop participants’ competences in using theatre-arts and other non-formal learning methods which will act as catalysts for dialogue and shared learning - To develop a range of creative skills alongside personal and social development - To introduce and examine different tools that motivate young people to become active citizens - To stress the importance of using different tools that include young people participatory in the realisation of social actions - To enable participants to create with young people small social action projects on community level using the methods of this Training Working methods The course will be based on non-formal learning methods, mostly drama/theatre methods as well as small group work, energizers and intercultural activities. Please note this is not an academic conference or a professional theatre course! Participant profile The course is open to youth workers, youth leaders and volunteers in youth organisations, aged 18-35, and interested in using theatre methods in youth work.
