OREGON GULCH FIRE UPDATE The news here is ALL good! If you have not heard, the fire is 100 percent lined. Lined is NOT controlled or contained. The lines that are in are scratch lines that need to be re enforced. Scratch lines can be jumped if the fire makes a big run at them. They have the fire about 45 percent contained right now which means that they have good hard lines in that the fire should be able to cross. Mop up is now getting underway big time on some sections of the fire. Over 7 miles of fire hose has been laid up there today and tonight. They will be working 300 to 500 feet into the black to make sure they get the hot spots out. That will be enough to keep the fire in the lines. All structural protection resources here under the Conflagration Act are being sent home tomorrow and the State Fire Marshal Incident Command is being demobilized and sent home as well. Down in California Cal Fire is releasing resources in large numbers now. They do not think the fire will jump the Klamath River at this point as the fire activity has really diminished down there. The momentum has clearly turned here. The rains that hit the fire the last two nights hit it exactly where they would do the most good and they have. For those of you who have been praying...those have been answered in the biggest way possible. The fire is holding at 36,568 acres....9464 of that was in California.
