ORGANIC FOOD, Yessssssssssssss !!! Organic farming or organic agriculture is a form of agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotation, use of green manure, compost, and biological pest control. Organic agriculture is a type of farming that places an emphasis on the sustainability of the soil’s fertility and health, as well as the importance of ecosystems and the people’s health. Mr. Boonmee Surakhot or Uncle Boonmee, an agriculturalist from Srisaket province who received the National Outstanding Award for Farming in 2011, said that with organic farming, agriculturalists dont have to risk being exposed to chemicals, while they help improve the environment and keep it safe for consumers. For nearly a decade he has been undertaking organic farming and sharing his knowledge on the subject with his community. He acknowledges integrating H.M. the King’s Sufficiency Economy philosophy throughout the years, so that today the local community is gaining reliable income from their organic rice products, with orders awaiting them. Uncle Boonmee expects that organic farming will soon be recognized by more agriculturalists in Thailand as the future of sustainable farming.
