ORIGEN, early Church Father Initially, Origen was an influential theologian and often quoted by Church Fathers but certain teachings attributed to him were condemned as heretical such as the pre-existence of the soul, the subordination of the Son to the Father, and a doctrine called apokatastasis (restoration) which made the claim that everything, perhaps even the devil himself, will be reconciled with God at the end of time . He was also known as Origen Adamantius and this last name was added to his first name because of his severe ascetical practices, such as castrating himself in a literal attempt to live like eunuchs for the sake of Gods kingdom... (Matt. 19:12). Origen was particularly notorious for the teaching of ἀποκαταστάσεως (apokatastaseos), the belief that every conscious beings, including Satan and the demons in hell, will all be restored and saved one day. It also thought that hell is not an everlasting torment, but just a temporary punishment for evil people, Satan and his demons, similar to Purgatory which is a different thing. ἀποκαταστάσεως (Apokatastaseos) came from the Original Greek of the Bible in Acts 3:21, where Peter and John preached in the Temple of Jerusalem when they proclaimed that God will restore all things to its holy being. Origen interpreted (rather misinterpreted it) as meaning that everyone, including evil men and Satan, will one day be saved. whom heaven must receive until the times of UNIVERSAL RESTORATION (ἀποκαταστάσεως in Greek) of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old. (Acts 3:21) Origen was anathemized posthumously during the 5th ecumenical council of Constantinople II (553 AD)
