ORU INDIAN PRANAYAKATHA REVIEWED There are a few essential elements of every Sathyan Anthikad movie- a happy family, good people around, politicians in khadar, and situations that bring out a smile or chuckle rather than a laugh…all these are well in place in Oru Indian Pranayakatha, his latest offering. The movie starts on a light hearted note , and maintains this gentle tempo for quite a while. The first half provides a fair share of laughs, despite the fact that nothing much happens really. In the second half, the grave suspense of the movie is revealed(yawn) which is only a few thousand years old. Sathyan Anthikad takes a detour like he has done in many of his recent movies to stray off into a flashback which alters the mood of the movie entirely. I don’t want to give any spoilers here, but he seems to be obsessed with someone losing their loved ones, this being the fourth consecutive film on those lines. Anyway things fall into place in unbelievably quick manner, and all is well as in every Anthikad movie. Fahad Fazil plays the small time politician to the hilt, and his charm and screen presence keep you engaged through the movie. Amala Paul plays the hash-poosh NRI girl quite impressively, while it’s heartening to see our friend Innocent back in action. Don’t get me wrong here, it’s quite a watchable movie if you have nothing better to do…but as a fan of the director who gave us Thalayanamanthram,Sandesham, Nadodikattu and Varavelpu ,I was a bit disappointed.
