OSUN STATE GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION: The pendulum is swinging from left to right & nobody knows where it will hang come 9th of August, 2014, in the State of living springs. Osun people are waiting. The electorates are eager. Both candidates of PDP & APC are nervous. But for me, im worried cos these two candidate vying for this exalted office are not good & competent enough to take Osun State to the next level. To be sure, they lack democratic tenets. Many of Osun people are my friends. Some, my course-mates @ Unilag. One of the lecturers that taught me is from that state. Infact, my room-mate @ Henry Carr Hostel is from Osun. They are good people & they deserve better candidates to manage the state affairs than Aregbesola or Omisore. This time, l will not engage myself in the prediction of election result as i used to do. The reason is not far fetched. Aregbesola & Omisore track-records have nothing to write home about. And it is a pity that these two candidates emerged through imposition by top hierarchy of their parties. What i will do here is to throw more light about the two candidates; their parties & factors voters will consider before casting their votes. Indeed, Aregbesola has been in the helm of affairs of Osun State, for good four years & he couldnt deliver democratic dividends to the people. The worst aspect of his administration was that he almost plunged Osun State, into a religious crisis. No thanks to his delibrate policy! For Omisore, he has been in the Red Chamber for more than four years and he couldnt propose any laudable bill that pass third reading. Prior to 2003 general election, the Yoruba people were preparing Bola Ige to replace notorious Olusegun Obasanjo for second term because of his abysmal performace in his first term in office. Alas, Bola Ige couldnt live to contest for the second election! I have highlighted how Obj became the president of Nigeria in one of my writings. This second term palaver is what some people want to deny Southsouth, when there was a clear indication of providence in presidency of Jonathan, & in addition to the provisions of Nigerian constitution. Omisore was accused of involvement in the assasination of Bola Ige. The assasination of this legal luminary shocked the World. His death was very painful not only because he was a serving Minister of Federal Republic of Nigeria @ that time but because of the way Obj handled his death even when there was primal facie evidence. I made bold to say here that Obasanjo & Omisore have a case to answer on the death of Ige. I also share Lagbajas view when he rejected Omisore offer to dance @ PDP rally. During the reign of terror of Obj many eminent politicians were assasinated. E.g. Bola Ige, Harry Marshal, just to mention a few. Unlike Jonathan, Obj never tolerated opposing voices. Thank God that Human Right Watch(HRW), has agreed to probe the assasination of politicians from 1995 till date. Thanks to Objs letter to GEJ! I hope they will do thorough investigation & recommend appropriate punishment on those that will be found culpable with utimost sincerity. Bola Iges death is a factors that will play out on the 9th that is why im very eloquent about it. Osun State election will be different from the State of fountain of knowledge where stomach infrastructure relegated elitist programmes & #5,000.00 to buy each vote to the background. Anyway, Kayode Fayemi & Ayo Fayose are better candidates than the two flag bearers in Osun State. In this election, the eligible voters will be voting against Tinubus economic empire & political domineering in the Southwest which he achieved through political intimidation, manipulation, compulsion, deceit, cheat & self-fishness. Since the present democratic dispensation he has benefited politically & economically in the Southwest without giving anything back to that region. The Ist Class Obas that refuse to succumb to his whim & caprice were openly insulted. What a sacrilege! Without him, his family nobody else. APC close association with Boko Haram which their defence & constant utterances in favour of those human butchers couldnt exonerate them of terrorism is a big problem. On the other hand, PDP will suffer for presenting Omisore who has been fingered in the murder of Ige as their candidate. The schism in PDP in Osun State, isnt an advantage. These are the major factors, the educated & uneducated voters will consider b4 dropping their ballot papers inside INEC boxes. I said in the beginning that any of the two candidate is not good enough to pilot the affairs of Osun State. Unfortunately, a winner must emerge on the D-Day btw the two. Any of them that emerges is left for Osun people. Finally, i want to urge GEJ not to succumb to cheap blackmail & criticism by APC Mencheviks not to deploy massive security personnels to Osun State, to forestall law & order during & after the election. I wish INEC hitch free outing & God bless Osun State. Amen!
