OSUN STATE. THIS WEEK IN REVIEW. DENIALS AND ANGER. The week resumed with bottled up anger in the people of the state. Their anger could be traced to the agony of having to contend with the many lies and denials of their Governor to certain grievous allegations especially as witnessed during his programme of “Ogbeni Till Day Break” otherwise known as Awada Kerikeri. It was a night of serial denials by the Governor. From the denial of the state debt profile to Kabiru-his son’s involvement in Opon Imo contract to that of slapping the Deputy Governor the night soon came and passed away amidst heavy disappointment and furry that continue to live with the people throughout the week in review. SHAME CAUGHT UP WITH AREGBESOLA Also in the week, Governor Aregbesola of Osun State, after a wasteful 3 years in office launched what he called “Igi Iye” coincidentally on a day that his colleague Governor of the neighboring Oyo State but in the same political party was commissioning, among others, fly over bridges, Ultra Modern Markets, and Several Modern Motor Parks to commemorate the anniversary of his two years in office. Ironically and in a manner devoid of shame Aregbesola was part of the crowd in Oyo State. He was there clapping and dancing to the amusement of the people of Oyo State but to the disappointment and shame of his own subjects back home in Osun State. FAILED ATTEMPT TO BRIBE NULGE EXECUTIVES Also in the week, Alhaji Fatai Diekola on the directive of Mr. Governor had a meeting with the NULGE Executives of the State. Meeting which was held in the office and under the auspices of Dr Oyebade Olowogboyega a former NULGE leader now a Permanent Secretary by Aregbesola’s grace attempted but without success to commit the NULGE Executives to throw their support behind Aregbesola for his second term ambition. Katakata burst when NULGE Executives “chopped” their money and refused to swear on oath. HUNTERS ARE WISER In the same week at Government Secretariat Abere,a meeting also held between the government representatives and a group of selected local hunters. Meeting which also centers on Aregbesola’s second term ambition could not reach a conclusion as the local hunters pushed forward an argument that they, rather than the Muslims and Christians were more qualified and are supposed to be sponsored to Cuba since Cuba is known for idol worshiping which is also similar to their own ways of religious lives. Like the NULGE’s, meeting could not also reach a final end as such had to be re schedule for a date next week at Chief Yemi Elebubon’s House at Osogbo. CONTRACTORS FLEE SITES OVER NON PAYMENT OF CONTRACT FEES. Also in the week, one by one the contractors that are handling various projects were leaving the sites for reasons not unconnected with non payment. A week during which realities stares people in their faces like never before. One week of too many failures with 2014 Governorship election, some 365 days or so away.
