Following comments and opinions might be harsh to certain modelers but if you asking for my opinion, this is what my sincere thoughts. No offense guys...... 1- Fundamental works comes first before modification. Saw a lot of custom builds but basic works are not handling well like seam-lines and mold-lines were obviously visible. Its a big No-No in any scale modeling aspect. 2- Modification works must be well handle before started off with finishing process. Observed some custom pla-plates modification are not handling well. Edges are not sanded properly hence, it appeared rough workmanship. Its a major flops for criteria scores. 3- Finishing works must be done in a proper manner before going for base / diorama staging. This section might be lengthy.... Rough and patches paint works detected on some entries. Masking were not done properly end up with bleeding paint results. Finger prints or nail marks even happen to some potential entries. Another major flops especially for clean build entries. Weathering entries were not done properly. Washes and dry-brushing techniques were not well executed ending up as like ad-hoc / half cook finishing. Another major flops for criteria scores. 4- Base / diorama staging. Yet another interesting topics to share with. Lets start off with Base. A lot of participants ought to have overlook in this section. Some base staging works are half done and poorly finished. Nib marks and mold lines are clearly visible. Diorama - this would be the most tricky and risky presentation tactics. Either it would enhance your entries or kills your entries entirely even with decent finishing. Unfortunately a lot of potential entries were degraded by it. Its really a long section to share with, maybe if times allow, i willing to share my little experience with you guys later. In general, either base or diorama staging, we should not take it lightly as its also part of the criteria scores. Take note guys. 5- Color schemes. These are the most common arguable topics. In general, color matching are very subjective statement. As its related to individual preference and likes. For own-self collection, theres no right or wrong terms in color combo. But as in competition wise, we ought to be more tactful when comes to color of choices. Hope the above comments does help us to improve further and brings gunpla to another level in our local scene. One I must admit that these year entries were slightly improved comparing to previous year standard! Kudos to every participants! You have contributed another step of level in gunpla modeling standard! Keep it up!
