OUR ACCESS DENIED The Australian Government has sent more than 3,800 people seeking asylum to remote detention centres in Papua New Guinea and Nauru. The Government claims this is a fair and effective way to process and resettle refugees – but Australians have no way to know if this is true. Journalists, lawyers and human rights organisations have been blocked from detention centres, and the secrecy has escalated. Asylum seekers continue to travel to Australia by boat. The Government won’t tell us if they’re being returned to persecution, torture and death. The information that has leaked out is deeply concerning.
