OUR GOVERNOR URGED MUSLIMS TO REFLECT THE SPIRIT OF SACRIFICE AND SELFLESSNESS IN THEIR DEALINGS. Our State governor, Gabriel Suswam, charged Muslim faithful in the country to reflect on the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness as exhibited by Abraham whom, he said, offered his only son for sacrifice to Allah. In his Sallah message signed by his Media aide, Dr Cletus Akwaya, the governor said that personal sacrifices to fellow human beings and the country would go a long way to create harmonious, humane, equitable and peaceful society. The governor, who felicitated with the Muslim community on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, said that “personal sacrifices for fellow human beings and for our country will go a long way in not only endearing us to Allah but also in creating a more harmonious, humane, equitable and peaceful society.” While urging the rich to share their resources with the poor, the governor saw the act of sacrifice or sharing as not the exclusive duty of the rich, saying “everybody has something to share with others at one time or the other.” Governor Suswam said it was in the same spirit that his government had insisted on sacrificing the pleasures of the moment by investing its lean resources in the development of infrastructure in the interest of the future of the state and its people. He promised to continue to utilise the state’s available resources prudently and to provide a conducive environment for the people of the state to pursue their social, economic and religious activities.
