OUR JOB -- HOLDING LOCAL MEDIA ACCOUNTABLE As we build towards progressive radio in Milwaukee, there are some things we could do in the meantime as a group to affect local media. Many times, the main stream media carries buckets of water for the right wing. We are seeing this with the hysteria over the so-called Obama administrations scandals. The liberal media has keep these bogus issues out there, way beyond their sell-by dates and no doubt have harmed the Presidents approval rating in a significant way. Certainly the media should play watchdog, but not lapdog. Locally, our media is part of this, particularly in giving our very mediocre governor a political career by looking the other way or downplaying the negative effects of his policies. Most notable. Every time the Journal PolitiFact reviews Walkers job performance, they credit him for around 30,000 jobs from the very second he took office. In reality, no administration has any impact until their budget passes in late spring. In Walkers case, job growth went straight into the tank, even thought in the rest of the country job growth came to life. Deduct these jobs from Walkers total and his dismal economic performance looks even worse. We need to call out the local media when they give the right wing a pass or fail to cover their, lets say, indiscretions. When the occasion arises, we will post alerts on this page, and your job is to smoke the phone lines or fill the medias inboxes. You should certainly urge your friends to do the same, and to join this page. Strength is in numbers. Likewise, if you see a problem in local media coverage, please post it on this page. The right wing of course is paying people to do what we seek to do here. But we have more people. Were big fans of a free and independent press, but it is not that when it caters to right wing interests. Lets keep the media honest.
