OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM WITH THEIR FREQUENT ADJOURNMENTS WHO IS BENEFITING & WHO IS LOSING? I went to one of the state high courts in edo state recently, with the expectation dat i would witness alot of proceedings, however, on getting to d court premises i met all calibre of lawyers & as such, i was so facinated dat my expectation would come into reality, little did i know dat wot my lecturers keep on sayi in school is true, dat, dat is pat of the system. I entered d court room, @ about 8.55 am & i sat in the midst of the crowded audience expecting the business of d day to come into reality. All of a sudden @ exatly 10.5 am i heard a bang frm one of d inner rooms wch prompted everybody to rise & chorused togeda court when his lordship finally stept in. Inconclusion, B4 i knew wot was happening, @ exatly 12.5 Pm d whole court was empty as a result of queues of adjourments dat wer taken by some lawyers and oda lawyers dat cud not prepare to have their cases b handled on dat day & as such all d suspects wer brot bak to prison without their cases b heard while oda litigants and their relatives left d court premises felt disapointed.
