OUT OF SPACE at BARCS CONTACT INFO: Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter 301 Stockholm Street, Baltimore MD 21230 [email protected] | (410) 396 4695 We are still completely out of space at the shelter with an overwhelming amount of intakes today and are open to the public for surrenders for another few hours. Below are just a few dogs in need at BARCS: URGENT: Diva - 6 yrs old, unaltered female, 46 lbs Diva would curl into your lap and stay there all day if you let her. She is timid in the shelter environment and just shakes in her kennel, but immediately takes to you for affection. During her dog assessment, Diva was unsure of herself and mostly wanted to hide from the other dogs but showed no aggression or concerning behaviors, and would be best paired right now with gentle dog-friends. Diva came to the shelter as a stray after she was left outside, lactacting with no puppies. She has a cutaneous vulvar mass that should be removed at spay surgery and is currently on antibiotics for some flea dermatitis on her back and legs. We want to get her out of the overcrowded shelter and into a home ASAP to keep building her confidence with further socialization and lots of love! URGENT: Baleen ~ 1.6 yrs old, unaltered female, 25 lbs Baleen is an adorable pocket sized pup. She was a happy little gal in the play yard today and was very excited to meet new friends during her dog assessment. She did well and is very playful and bounces around like a spring! She is showing occasional barrier reactivity in her kennel and really needs a foster family to let her fun personality shine in rescue! She has some mild abrasions on her neck from a chain or tight collar, and is currently on antibiotics for a UTI. Baleen came to us after she was left on a chain and cant wait to be warm and snuggly in a home for the holidays! URGENT: Layla ~ 1 yr old, unaltered female, 44 lbs Layla is a gorgeous little girl. With her one blue eye, Layla has a compact frame - perfect for snuggling. She likes to snuggle into blankets in her kennel, but lets loose in the play yard when its time to hang out with her dog friends. She has good social skills, and is playful and friendly and seems housebroken at the shelter. Layla can be shy in her kennel and wed like to get her into rescue to let her relax and shine! She came to the shelter a few weeks ago with low hanging mammary glands from a recent litter and has hairloss on her back from a flea infestation. URGENT: Darth ~ 5 yrs old, neutered male, 54 lbs Darth is such an awesomely sweet boy. Hes always relaxing in the funniest positions on his bed and is relaxed and cool as a cucumber. Darth was assessed with other dogs and can be a little overpowering at first, but responds well to correction and is improving with further socialization. Despite his rude greetings, Darth is very friendly and would love a home where he can learn the ropes! URGENT: Vicky ~ 10 yrs old, unaltered female, 50 lbs Poor Vicky was surrendered to the shelter after 10 years because her family was moving. This pretty Retriever mix gal, has a sable coat and is very soft. She is very shy and confused at the shelter - clearly missing her home. She is currently living in an office as we have no kennel for her, and we need to get her into rescue ASAP. She is quickly blossoming under the care of our staff, but needs a loving home to come out of her shell. She was assessed with other dogs and was a little nervous and unsure of herself, but improved the longer she was outside and would flourish with further socialization after she can decompress in a home. Saffron ~ 3 yrs old, spayed female, 46 lbs Saffron is just the best! Her kennel card is covered in love notes from volunteers, and she is very sweet and easygoing. She is fantastic with other dogs at the shelter and is used in mostly every dog-dog assessment at our shelter. She will crawl right into your lap for love and just wants a family to call her own! She was found as a stray, very thin and cold and cant wait to be yours. 2nd req: URGENT - Flurry ~ 1 yr old, neutered male, 57 lbs Flurry is a happy, outgoing guy! He has an energetic play style with other dogs, and is often used as a control dog during assessment testing for other dogs. Flurry is unfortunately becoming very stressed and pent up in his kennel. We need to get him out of the shelter and into a home ASAP to decompress and flourish in a home with structure and love. 2nd req: URGENT - Keifer ~ 3 yrs old, neutered male, 56 lbs Keifer is a sweet, happy boy! He was found as a stray and has severe entropian eyelids on both eyes. He is having surgery to correct his eyelids tomorrow and needs a place to recover from surgery ASAP as we needed to use his kennel at the shelter while he is at the vet. He was assessed off leash with a male and female and was very friendly. Although he was a little nervous at first, he showed a lot of potential with further interaction and started to join in the fun with a medium energy, polite play style. URGENT: Wilma ~ 4 yrs old, spayed female, 46 lbs Wilma is a soft, sweet girl. She has a very sweet temperament and loves attention from people. She was assessed with other dogs and was very well behaved, and continues to participate in socialization sessions at the shelter to build her confidence. * Wilma is becoming incredibly depressed at the shelter and doesnt even want to walk outside. Weve sent her to a temporary foster home while out of space, but need to line up a rescue for her within the next 72 hrs. Everyone just raves about this lovely gal and wed love to see her back in the home she deserves. Wilma came to the shelter with another dog after their owner could no longer care for them, and previously lived with teenage children.
