OUTRAGE at this evenings Council meeting over a move to silence the public gallery from which anyone is normally allowed to express an opinion over an agenda item, usually at the start of each meeting. For some unknown reason Council voted in favour of moving the first two agenda items forward (being the election of Mayor and Deputy) without allowing members of the public to address issues verbally before Council voted on those matters. In any case members of the public were later able to address the meeting on various issues including what some speakers described the above vote as disgusting and against freedom of speech before congratulating Mayor Statham on her re-election and praising her hard work over the past two terms as Mayor.
