OVER 100 SHOPLIFTING ARRESTS IN 5 DAYS It has been reported that police have arrested 110 people for shoplifting in a five-day blitz titled Operation Lightfingers targeting shoplifters in the Sydney CBD, Bondi Junction and Broadway. Police say that they recovered $9300 worth of stolen goods as a result of the blitz. 128 charges have been brought including larceny,intentional/ reckless damage, assault & resisting arrest. One of those charged allegedly admitted to stealing his lunch every day for the past two-weeks. Desperation? Cry for help? Sign of the economic times? Or just greed?
