OWERRI - Three brothers (names withheld) are telling the police all they know about the circumstances that led to the murder of a young man, Canice Ajuegbe. Vanguard gathered that the three brothers, who are natives of Umuopara Nsu, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, are currently being held for their alleged involvement in the death of Ajuegbe, a native of Umuduru Nsu. Story making the rounds in the community had it that the three brothers went to fetch firewood from neighbouring Umuduru community and were confronted by Ajuegbe, who wondered why they preferred to destroy his father’s palm trees. Some of the villagers also claimed that a heated argument ensued between the three brothers and Ajuegbe, adding the one of them went for his cutlass and dealt a deep cut on Ajuegbe’s forehead. Consequently, Ajuegbe bled to death on the spot after which the three brothers dragged the corpse into the bush and fled. A little girl, who was in the bush to fetch firewood, saw what happened and narrated the incident when Ajuegbe was declared missing. There after, the traditional ruler of Nsu autonomous community, Eze Chibueze Iwunze, invited the Police from Ehime Mbano Division. Meanwhile, some angry youths from Umuduru Nsu, the home of the slain Ajuegbe, stormed the home of the alleged suspects and burnt it. Reacting to the incident, Eze Iwunze, who doubles as Chairman of Ehime Mbano Council of Traditional Rulers, lamented that the ugly incident has dented the good image of the community.
