OWINGS MILLS -- Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith is not a fan of the grass surface at Heinz Field. And with Saturday night’s weather forecast in Pittsburgh calling for rain, Smith would not be surprised if footing is treacherous. “It’s terrible man, they need to go ahead and put some [synthetic] turf up there or something man,” Smith said. “Apparently the field gets a lot of use. That’s good for them, but it’s terrible for us playing this late. I’m sure they’ll do a great job prepping it, but if we use our fundamentals, the field shouldn’t matter. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said if conditions were wet and windy, the game plan could be adjusted quickly. Not only was rain in the forecast, the wind could gust up to 22 miles per hour. “I think we have the contingencies built in,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll just have to see how the game plays out. I’d like to think that our schemes are weatherproof. We can handle whatever weather we get.” -The Raven Chronicles
