OYHFS advisory board member and chef, Susie Parker, has been running a culinary class for the boys in our Independent Living Program (ILP) for almost three years. On November 17, Parker and the boys prepared a special Thanksgiving-themed meal for our governing board. The meal was absolutely delicious and would rival any 5-star restaurant. These guys are so, so smart, Susie said. Their skills and collaboration have improved greatly. Their respect for each other has improved greatly. Theyve really come to see a different world. All of the participants refer to Parker as Momma Susie and the admiration and appreciation they feel towards her is evident. The boys have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about cooking and were happy to give back to Optimist through this delicious meal.
