Obama saluted two marines with a cup of tea in his hand. So freaking what? This is such a trifling concern. When something like stepping out of a helicopter and saluting becomes such a familiar and integrated habit for someone, its only inevitable that some amount of passivity will lapse the routine once in a while. This is the sort of petty incident that has zero instrumental consequences and only elicits Americans along their political predispositions (if Bush has one, fodder for Bush haters; if Obama has one, fodder for Obama haters; etc). There are issues far more worthy of controversy than a minor transgression from pomp and circumstance.
