Obedience Read Nehemiah 10:1 through 11:36 Little Katie’s cries brought Mother running into the room. A quick survey of the scene told the story. Katie’s six-year-old brother had snatched her toy—again. “Didn’t you hear me tell you to leave your sister alone?” Mother asked, exasperated. “I hear you,” the boy said innocently. “But my hands do it anyway.” “All these now join their fellow Israelites the nobles, and bind themselves with a curse and an oath to follow the Law of God given through Moses the servant of God and to obey carefully all the commands, regulations and decrees of the Lord our Lord” (Nehemiah 10:29). Children are not the only ones who struggle with obedience. Hearing God’s Word is easy. Obediently living it out takes some effort. Disobeying God’s commands brings pain, regret, and death. However, God promises blessings to those who serve Christ in obedience. We must repent of our sins and make a fresh commitment to obey God in all things. Prayer Suggestion: Remove every trace of rebellion from my heart, and help me conform to Your Word. :)
