Obi Flags-off three Pedestrian Bridges at Onitsha The on-going multi-million naira Pedestrian Crossing Projects at the Onitsha axis of the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway will be completed this year. Governor Peter Obi announced this while officially flagging off the Pedestrian bridges, which are almost 60%completed. The projects located at Uga junction end of the Bridge-Head, MCC Junction and Tarzan Junction were awarded at the cost of four hundred million naira, with the completion period of six months. Governor Obi said the projects were designed to reduce accidents and ensure safety of people crossing the expressway at various points, especially with the high population density of the commercial city and environments. He recalled that the multi-sectorial development strategy approach of his administration has opened up hitherto neglected parts of the area while over three billion naira was spent to upgrade infrastructure at the Harbour Industrial layout which he noted was presently hosting mega multi-national industries. Governor Obi assured that his government would sustain high tempo of work till the end of his tenure and urged the people to vote Dr. Willie Obiano to maintain good governance. The APGA Governorship candidate in the coming election, Dr. Obiano said he would follow the footsteps of the Governor to uplift the lives of the people. The Commissioner for Works, Sir. Callistus Ilozumba said the project was properly designed and awarded to a competent contractor who would deliver on schedule and according to specification.
