Obituaries from May 29-June, 26, 2013: May 29th Edition-- James E. Erickson: James Edward Erickson left his earthly body on Saturday, May 18, 2013, unexpectedly at the age of 53. He was born July 31, 1959, in Rice Lake, the son of Fred and Rachel (Rhodes) Erickson. James graduated from Owen-Withee High School. He loved his work at Siemens Company as a Millwright. Jim was a son, brother, father, grandfather and a friend to all who knew him and crossed his path. Anytime there was a person who needed help, he was there and always had a large, kind heart. He loved being around his family and friends especially if he was hunting, fishing, playing softball or wrestling. He could build a campfire that the neighbors could feel and Jim loved hanging around the campfire visiting. He is survived by his children Charity (Jason) Hulce of Amherst; Jake Erickson of Stevens Point; Joel (Jessica) Erickson of Stevens Point; Jeff Erickson of Hillsdale; Shae Erickson of Whitehall; granddaughters Skylar Hulce and Madison Hulce; siblings Kenneth (Lucille) Erickson of Clayton, Walter Erickson of New Auburn; Dennis (Roberta) Erickson of Hillsdale; Cinderella (Timothy) Sprague of Barron; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Richard, Lawrence and twin Jeffrey E. Erickson. Isaacs: Gary Allen Isaacs, 63, Withee, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, as a result of a one car accident on County Highway O, near his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, at 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral. Pastor Thomas Myhre will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary’s children Joseph, Raquel and Jonathan, and son-in-law John Schwanbeck and daughter-in-law Jennifer Isaacs. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Withee following the funeral. Gary was born March 19, 1950, in Stanley. He was the son of John and Virginia Isaacs. He is a graduate of Owen-Withee High School. He began his working career as a press man at the Isaacs Printing Corp. in Withee. He then worked as a Service Technician in several fields, where he earned several certifications, until he retired last year. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, motorcyclist and marksman. He loved to fix things for people, and could fix anything. He lived everyday to the fullest and got all he could out of life. Gary and Barbara Ann Lehnen were married July 3, 1975. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother Virginia Isaacs; three children Joseph (Jennifer German), Raquel (John) Schwanbeck and Jonathan. He is also survived by three grandsons Mason and Isaac Schwanbeck, and Lehnen Isaacs; three sisters Cindy Nielsen and Betty Isaacs of Atascadero, CA, and Sandra (Larry) Shimono of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John W. Isaacs, his grandparents Marvin and Clara Ruhnke and Jerry and Bessie Isaacs, and brother David John Isaacs. Westendorf, 98, Withee, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Memorial Health Center in Medford. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Dorothy was born on September 14, 1914, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Redwine) Hanson in Abbotsford. She attended and graduated from Abbotsford Schools and Teachers College. Dorothy taught in country schools in the Withee area for a few years. She was united in marriage to Russell L. Westendorf on December 29, 1939, at Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Town of Maplehurst. Russell preceded her in death on September 3, 1990. Dorothy enjoyed being part of the homemakers and the Clark County Homemakers Chorus, but especially her home, her farm and her family. Dorothy is survived by her four daughters Beth (Wally) Kuenne, Stetsonville, Jane (fiancé Del Burrious) LeFevre, Edgerton, Ann (Larry) Schultze, Hartford, and Sue (Ted) Brown, Hastings, MN; seven grandchildren Jill (Dan) Carstensen, Medford, Julie (Elvis) Hernandez, Madison, Katie (Seth) Tomlin, Waunakee, Russ LeFevre, Edgerton, Lisa (Ryan) Mueller, Elkhorn, Charly (Lindee) Schultze, Milwaukee and Elizabeth Schultze, Hartford. She is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren Lauren and Alex Carstensen, Trey and Luke Hernandez, Carter, Maysen and Vyvienne Tomlin, Chasen Mueller, Leah Schultze, Sam and Maddie Schultze; brother-in-law Cletus Schraufnagel, Colby; many nieces, nephews and friends. Parker: Harold Lee Parker passed away on May 14, 2013 (a full obituary appeared in the May 22nd edition of the O-W Enterprise). A memorial service will be held at the Clark County Health Care Center at 10 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2013. Carole E. Carlsen: Carole E. Carlsen, 69, Sheldon, died June 8, 2013, after a three-year battle with ALS. Her funeral will be 11 AM Friday, June 14, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Sheldon, with Pastor Aric Fenske officiating. Carole’s family will receive friends from 9-11 AM on Friday at the church. Carole was born on April 24, 1944, in Stanley to Howard and Florence Blazer. On January 16, 1965, she married Kenneth Carlsen at Withee, and moved to Rusk County that same year. Carole was the Sheldon Village Treasurer for 36 years and secretary at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sheldon for more than 30 years, where she also was parishioner. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, going for long walks at the cabin, going to Curves, and—of course—shopping with her daughters-in-law and granddaughters. She also was the Green Bay Packers’ #1 fan. Carole is survived by her husband; children Mark (Beverley) of Sheldon, Michael of Sheldon and Kevin (Julie) of Westboro; and grandchildren Celsey, Cole, Cordel, Kodi, Brayden and Finley. She is further survived by brother David (Pat) Blazer of Owen and sister Janice (Ray) Hafmeister of Menomonee Falls. Nash-Jackan Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements. Frank Hendriks: Frank Hendriks, 99, Withee, went to his eternal home to be with his beloved wife Vi, on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, from the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the Church. Frank and his identical twin brother John were born on March 20, 1914, to Theodore and Nellie Hendriks at Glenwood City. He was a brother to Ken, Ted, Anton, Mary, Lena, Willamena, Anna and his twin John. As a child, the family moved to a farm in rural Thorp. In December 1940, Frank married Violet Turenne at Thorp. To this marriage were born two daughters Fay and Nancy. In 1941, Frank and Vi bought a farm in rural Withee, where they farmed until their retirement. In addition to farming Frank worked for a few years for the Clark County Highway Department. He was also employed by the Frederick Post Company in Owen for 32 years. In his retirement years, he loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his daily trips to spend time with the gang at Midway Bar in Withee. He was their source of information about the history of the Owen-Withee area. Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather. The greatest joy in life was being with his family. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially their annual fishing trip with their friends. Frank is survived by his daughters Fay (Don) Stolp of Mosinee, Nancy (Denny) Henke of Withee; and grandchildren Michael Stolp of California, Jeff (Vickie) Stolp of Stratford, Yvonne (Shane) Moen of Edgar, Monty (Renea) of Medford, and Mindy (Greg) Heiden of Edgar. He is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Vi in 2010 and his brothers and sisters. Buss, 92, formerly of Owen, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Oakbrook Health and Rehab in Thorp. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. The Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate. Linda was born on January 29, 1921, in Town of Worden, Clark County, the daughter of William and Susan (Clerf) Huberty. She worked at Blue Moon Cheese before her marriage. On June 30, 1945, Linda was united in marriage to Bernard Buss in the Town of Reseburg. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2005. Together they farmed in the Town of Reseburg until retiring in 1976. After retirement, they moved to Owen and then back to Thorp in 2003. She has resided at Oakbrook Health and Rehab the past six years. Linda was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. She enjoyed baking, cooking, embroidery, shopping trips and dining at Olive Garden. Most especially, Linda loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Linda is survived by her children Bill (Judy) Buss, Thorp, Jim (Karen) Buss, Cottage Grove, MN, Marvin Buss, Thorp, and Sandy Buss, Roberts; her daughter-in-law Mary Buss, Oconomowoc; eight grandchildren Chris (Caryn) Buss, Shannon (Diana) Buss, Sheila Buss, Laurie Buss, Kirby (Kristen) Buss, Dan (Jaime) Buss, Mike Buss and Andy (Sara) Buss; eight great-grandchildren Dylan, Mike, Alyssa, Rylee, Drew, James, Owen and Izaak. She is further survived by sister-in-law Ruby Buss, Thorp, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Don Buss, an infant daughter, two brothers Albert and Paul Huberty and sister Verona Berdal. Anna Mae Porath: Anna Mae Porath, 83, Owen, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield with her daughter and son by her side. A memorial service was held Saturday, June 15, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss with Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman officiating. Anna Mae was born April 23, 1930, in Rockford, IL, John and Mae (Komis) Wesneski. She received her education and graduated from Bee Hive School outside of Owen. Anna Mae was joined in marriage to Arvid Lindgren on June 30, 1951, at the Alliance Church in Curtiss. Together they farmed in the Town of Green Grove until the time of his death in 1969. She then went to school to become a CNA and worked at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen as a Certified Nursing Assistant until her retirement. Anna Mae was joined in marriage to Ed Porath on October 24, 1981, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss. She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her door was always open for friends and family to visit. Anna Mae is survived by her children Gary (Barb) Lindgren of Withee and Debbie (Brook) Hansen of Champlin, MN; her stepchildren Rod (Debi) Porath of Loyal, Denise (Ron) Kovalaske of Owen, and Randy Porath of Owen. She is further survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 16 step-great-grandchildren, sister Jean (George) Behringer of Winneconne, step-son-in-law Steve Brown of Abbotsford and many nieces and nephews. Anna Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Arvid, her second husband Edwin in 2011, stepdaughter Debra Brown, step-granddaughter Jessica Porath and two sisters Joyce Ackerman and Norma Miller. Friends may send online condolences to maurinaschilling. June 26th Edition-- Agnes A. Jones: Agnes A. Jones, 97, Stevens Point, died April 29, 2013. Agnes was born in Withee, the oldest child of the late Sam and Katherine (Jacobsen) Andersen. She grew up on a small family farm in Owen, where she attended elementary school and graduated from high school. Following graduation, Agnes worked in Milwaukee doing housework to earn money for college. With family financial help, she enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1934 as a Physical Education major. Agnes later changed her major to Home Economics Education. Agnes earned her way through college by working full time while attending school. She worked as a waitress, assisted in the Physical Education office, and helped in the Agricultural Library. Agnes completed her bachelor of science degree in Home Economics and Education in 1937. She subsequently earned her MS degree in Home Economics and PhD in Education-Teacher Education and Supervision. Early in her career, Agnes taught high school Home Economics in Mauston. She then spent 12 years at the University of Wisconsin–Madison as a librarian, teacher and supervisor of student teachers. She transferred to the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in 1956 as a professor. Agnes became head of the Home Economics Department. She was later promoted to head of the School of Home Economics and Associate Dean of the College of Professional Studies. She was named Professor Emerita in 1981. Agnes served on the Wisconsin Home Economics Association throughout her career. She was named an Outstanding Educator of America in 1972. She served as Vice-President and President of the Association of Wisconsin Home Economics Teacher Educators, and was also a member of the executive board of the National Council of Administrators of Home Economics. She married James Jones in 1943. The couple divorced in 1956. James died in 1978. Agnes retired in 1996 after serving 25 years as head of Home Economics, 15 years in Advising and Placement, and a total of 59 years in Education. Survivors include her son James (Katie Lawler) Jones of Twain Harte, CA; nephews Jim Andersen (Julie) of Amery, WI; Bob Andersen (Claudia) of Madison, WI; and Gary Andersen (Lori) of Oregon, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Einer; sister Helga; uncle Jens; and aunt, Mary. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. Interment will take place in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery in Withee. All of life is a journey…Agnes was dedicated to her students and the Department of Home Economics and helped many people throughout her extensive career. Richard H. Blazer: Richard H. Blazer, 85, Globe, AZ, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2103, at Copper Mountain Inn in Globe. He was born on June 23, 1927, in Withee, the son of Mary Ellen (Miller) and Bernard “Bone” Blazer. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Bass during World War II and the United States Army during the Korean Conflict receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE NO 2809 and was Santa Claus in Globe for years. He was a ham radio operator communicating with others all over the world in emergencies and relaying messages. He loved crafts of any kind such as woodworking and polishing gemstones for making jewelry. Richard leaves behind in loving memory his fiancé Lois Long of Globe, AZ; one sister Ardyce Bussard, one nephew David Bussard, one niece Linda Bussard, two great-nephews Dolan and Connor, one great-niece Chloe, all of Sparta, TN; and one aunt, the late Florence Blazer of Owen. Ralph E. Stark: Ralph E. Stark, 66, Withee, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. His funeral service will be 12:00 noon Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home in Owen. Burial will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in the Town of Holway. Ralph was born August 16, 1946, to Allen and Gertrude (Klabon) Stark in Owen. Ralph attended Owen-Withee Public Schools. He worked as a carpenter before taking a job as a welder for Liberty Homes in Dorchester, retiring after 25 years of employment. Ralph married Shirley Stargardt on August 17, 1968, in Withee. Ralph enjoyed hunting, going to auctions and scrapping with Ole. He also loved to ride on the gator with Shirley and the grandkids, going to the races to watch his son race, watching Packer football and he loved reminiscing about the old days. Ralph greatly appreciated the gift of a kidney from his sister-in-law Lynn. Ralph is survived by his wife Shirley of Withee; six children Loretta (Dusty) Thorne, Ralph (Kenda) Stark Jr., Christopher (Beverly) Stark, Lisa Fravert, Brian (Natoshka) Stark and Crystal Chenier; and 10 grandchildren Samantha, Zachary, Sabrina, Rebecca, Cheyenne, Sierra, Will, Ben, Sophie and Trenton. He is also survived by a brother Allen (Denise) Stark. Ralph is further survived by many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews that called him “Grandpa Ralph”. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, sister Frieda Dean Stark, sister-in-law Alice, brother-in-law Doug, and niece Angel. Joseph Lampi: The funeral service for Joseph Lampi, 95, Highland Park, IL, was on Monday, June 10, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Deerfield, IL. Interment followed in Willow Lawn Memorial Park, Vernon Hills, IL. Joe was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Highland Park American Legion Post #145. He was also a member of the Bricklayers Local #120. He was born November 15, 1917, in Owen, WI, and died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Joe is survived by his wife Doris (Sather); his children Cheryl Bernardi, Dennis (Bernadette) Lampi, Curtiss Lampi, David (Nancy) Lampi, Wendy (Steven) Fluhr, Joe (Gayle) Lampi; his sister Gertrude Lampi; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Donna Mae Vann: Donna Mae Vann, 79, Tomah, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Serenity House in Tomah. She was born to Harry and Myrtle (Pyatt) Dempsey on February 4, 1934, in Stanley. She grew up in the Owen area. She was united in marriage to Lee Reinke in 1950. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1955. She then was united in marriage to Dale Peissig on June 25, 1958, in Owen. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1990. On November 11, 1997, she was united in marriage to Bernard “Bernie” Vann at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Donna worked as a nursing assistant at the Havenet Nursing Home in Owen for several years. She worked as a home healthcare assistant for Lou and Bertha Bulgrin in Owen. She moved to the Tomah area, and worked at the Kwik Trip South in the deli. She always enjoyed visiting and had a smile on her face. Along with her husband Bernie, they worked as soldiers in action at Ft. McCoy for the last six years. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, working in her garden, and canning. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Donna was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a strong heart that helped her overcome all the losses in her life, and gave her the strength to raise a loving family. She always liked to visit with her friends and family. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 15 years Bernard “Bernie” of Tomah; eight children Vicky (Dave) Henke of Hutchinson, KS, Gary (Linda) Reinke of Pocatello, ID, Tom (Jackie) Reinke of Withee, Tim (Cheryl) Reinke of Medford, Gail (George) Muehlbauer of Owen, David (Mary) Peissig of Medford, Dennis Peissig of Tomah, Terry Peissig of Sparta; three stepchildren Vicky Vann, Wendy Vann and Jeff Vann, all of Tomah; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchild, and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and stepson Jesse. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Tomah, with Pastor Mark Benning officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
