Obituary Condolences Kuchipudi artist / musician Shri Josyula Krishnamurthy passed away in the early hours today around 2.,30 at his residence. Shri Krishnamurthy who started his art journey initially as a dancer – essaying mostly the Saki roles was more interested in the music aspect of Kuchipudi Yakshaganam and is a very well known Mridangam artist. He specialised in Sampradhya Kuchipudi Yakshaganam talas / music and has the honour of accompanying over 8000 programs during his life time. He was the integral part of Venkatrama Kala Mandali and associated with Shri Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma, the of Kuchipudi. Shri Krishnamurthy is a Sangeeta Natak Academi awardee and was also honoured by the Tamil Nadu Government with a Golden Bracelet. Till recently he was part of the examiners of the Telugu University, Kuchipudi and was also part of teaching faculty team. Shri Krishnamurthy was 86 years old and is survived by his wife, one daughter and three sons. One of his sons is part of the Chennai Kalashektra. With him one of the chapters of Sampradhya Yakshaganam music is over and it is a great loss for the art world as such. Professor Pasumarthy Ramalingam, Vedantam Raghavayya, D.S.V. Sastry, Vendantam Ramalinga Sastry Pasumarthy Rattaih sarma, Kuchipudi Bhagavathamelam, Akhila Bharatha Kuchipudi Natya Kala mandali, Vedantam Kala Kshetram and Panchamavedam Foundation expresses condolences to the bereaved family and prays for the onward journey of the soul.
