Observation for the day ... To cut through the political debates in these times is challenging but necessary ... The nature of government is that it will always be in loco parentis ... This is due to the mammalian nature of the species .... The people are habituated to nurture, not abandonment like reptiles ... Thus good government, and by association good governance, comes from good parenting ... It is not about being pro or anti government, but more about being pro or anti parenting ... The causes behind political division and opinion should now become clear ... Thus good governance comes from nuture rather than absenteism ... Good government should not dictate without explanation, or be driven by authority, compulsion, or sadism ( what sort of parent is that ? )... Accordingly good government should be driven by carrots and not sticks ... What parent would SANCTION their own child ? So why sanction a class of people ? Minimal government is absentee government AKA An Absentee Parent ! Economic dictatorship (Austerity) is a FAILURE of government , just as denial of support is a failure of Parenting !
