October 1, 2014, Canadian Ski Icon JP Auclair Dies in Avalanche. From his earliest days skiing icy moguls in his home Province of Quebec, to pioneering ski film work, JP Auclair was one of the best skiers to ever emerge from Canada. The 37-year-old died while climbing the treacherous and remote Monte San Lorenzo (12,159) pyramid-shaped peak that sits on the border of Chile and Argentina, alongside fellow skier 31 year old Andreas Fransson from Sweden.
